At the age of 19, she published her first debut single, Here. This single received a lot of attention and was well-liked both by critics and listeners. It reached 19th place in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of the year. Her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five tracks that made it to the top charts on Billboard as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as Billboard Hot 100. The track is special because, based on the Rap-Up interview that she conducted, many of the listeners could identify with her journey of learning to love themselves and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara is known for incorporating the themes of mental health and compassion and self-love in her songs. The music of Cara is directly from her battle with mental illness, insomnia and other issues. Reuters said that she described the album "half turbulent, and half finished". Her growth was aided by therapy and encourages other people to seek out help when needed. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on the 11th of July 1996. Her parents bought her a new guitar, which she used to further develop her passion for the music. At the age of 13she began covering songs she adored on YouTube to prove to the public that she was talented and brave enough to make a profession of musician. Sweater Weather was her most popular album. An album label, EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her write songs.
