Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on that part of the island of Montreal named"the West Island. It is the West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. However, this is not true. Brugel was born in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. Early ambitions were to be a performer, but she simply outgrew her dancers. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inch tall. Once I had outgrown my male counterparts I stopped. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting, which is what Brugel did. Drama teacher in her high school was able to push her in the direction she wanted to go in. Her teacher suggested she audition as Anne in the school's annual production. She threw herself into it to play the character of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated on the 20th of January, 2000. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Since then, for the more than 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions on both screens, receiving the greatest attention when she was offered the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel, the only Canadian in the Season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and was only seen on occasion, was the only Canadian.

Lis Weisehl is a US-based legal analyst, author and writer of both fiction as well as non-fiction. She had previously been a correspondent with NBC News and National Public Radio's All Things Considered. New York Times best-selling author she has released the books of 18.
